My father, Louis, was killed when his Buick LeSabre was struck on the driver side by a farm truck hauling a ton and a half of soil at a intersection with Highway 42 in Dillon, South Carolina. Dad was driving to Charleston, where he intended to orchestrate the final details of the wedding of my sister, Marian. He had lost the sight in his left eye a few years before and probably did not see the truck approaching. He should have stopped at the stop sign, though, which would have prevented the collision.
