Klout just has pushed out a major update to its online influencer scoring system. (UPDATE: Klout Closed.) Here’s what they have to say:

More Actions Measured
There are more variables in the algorithm, including Facebook subscribers, +K received, and more.
Always Learning
We now pull real-world influence data from sources like Wikipedia, LinkedIn titles and +K received on Klout. These signals enrich our data and help our systems adapt to the changing landscape of influence.

I’ve noted Klout’s role in calculating return on online activity before. While we all may want to be winners in the online influence game, the more important route to success is to pay attention to  “context”, a fact we were reminded of last night by Tim Wood of Imagine Simplicity. Tim’s company was the sponsor of our LMA Virginias Chapter social down at Sam Miller’s Restaurant in Richmond.

He has put the slides from his short talk on Slideshare.

How are you making sure you are talking to the “right” audience online?
